Under the canada labour code section 141, health and safety officers have the power to lead inspection of the workplace or to arrange an investigation to be led in compliance with the code. In addition, the officer also has the power to investigate the death of an employee at the workplace or in a motor vehicle accident. In this investigation, the hso may acquire a duplicate copy of any police report following a road accident.
