Theoretical thinking: about generalization, relating a new situation to an old one in order to discern patterns and figure out what is likely to happen. Academic disciplines: a specialized field of study [physics, math] Everyday theorizing: theories that occur in everyday routines [the door bell theory] Opinion: deeply personal, based on taste and feelings not based on particular claims to expertise. Empirical data: info gained through 5 sense, sight, hear, smell, taste and touch. Reality: even though theoretically we cant argue about facts but in reality we still do. Methodical inquiry: the ability to unpack arguments, that is, to distinguish facts from opinions and theories and explain how the information in an argument was collected and interpreted in the first place. Common sense: everyday philosophizing or conscious theoretical thinking. Mix of personal taste, opinions, wisdom from friends and family, knowledge from school, media or other social institutions. Marxist: someone who sees theory as an important component of freedom struggles.
