Moral panic: a condition, episode or group which emerges to become de ned a threat to social values and interests this threat is then stylized by media in order to stand out and certain behaviour and practice b. Within a moral panic we nd the players . This who are constituted as the participants or active agents within the panic. For ex. any groups or demographic stylized and constructed as a threat and then constituted as folk devils within a moral panic. Historical ex. teen males are violent; teen girls are hyper sexualized; the queer community is. Diseased and muslim are terrorist youth culture- marketing dominant culture and youth. Youth are a symbolic challenge to dominant culture- as it relies on the containment of youth to maintain the social order . Through the incorporation of youth cultures into dominant and pop culture (not threatening ) Ex. consider the difference between punk music to pop music.
