Another stereotype of hidden crimes; youth criminality is mysterious. It is important to keep in mind that clich s do have power. By depicting young people as apathetic, immature, disconnected from mainstream social norms, popular media depicts young people as more prone to being under constant pressure to act out. The moral panic of youth crimes are a result of stereotyping of youths in media. Canadian youth crime rates: we are not in the mist of a youth crime insurgence.
