Durkheim, marx and weber are considered to be the three founding fathers of sociology. We are not looking at weber because his work is about capitalist and the protest work. Capitalism could not have developed under feudalism and under the rule of religion, specifically the catholic church could thrive. Weber says it was necessary to over throw the catholic church so capitalism: that the catholic church didn"t have the right ethos to develop. Since they didn"t save anything and they were taxing the masses more and more, this is why they in fact could never have developed capitalism. What hes arguing is that protestatism has the right ethics to develop capitalism: interested in spending that money capitalism.
