History of families industrial era 1880s 1940s. Even though women"s work was recognized, women"s status was inferior to men"s. In the industrial era, this changes, and women"s work becomes unrecognized. On the one hand women had inferior status to men, but at the same time their work was heavily recognized because of the public and private spheres. Industrialization and macanization starts to happen in 70s and 80s. Family farms until 1880s, grew a whole variety of produce. So when you had bad crops, men and boys went off for fishing and hunting and renting themselves off for other farming families. But usually you had enough food to survive off what the farm gave you. Women and children were left to do prepared goods, salami and sausages. Things that you could survive the winter off of. But you did not have enough food to be able to go to the market place to sell to make money off of.
