Men with the industrial era, became associated with the public sphere and the breadwinner role private sphere and the home, domestic and care work. Women with the private sphere, that meant that they became associated with. As a result, men"s commitment to the family is seen as being an economic commitment first and foremost. In contrast, even for women who work fulltime, they are shaped assumptions are made about them that their commitment to the family is first and foremost in the private sphere. They are expected to sacrifice paid work to meet the demands of domestic labour and care work. What that means is that split that happened, shaped the patriarchal assumptions that employers have about women and their commitment to he workplace. And the type of work women get offered, where women end up and how they see women in regards to performance made about you about where you are located.
