Organizational culture are shared assumptions which are not visible but tell us what an organizational believes in and what is considered right or wrong. The pattern of shared values, beliefs, and assumptions considered to be the appropriate way to think and act within an organization. It helps to distinguish an organization from other organizations. Organizational culture is: shared, taught to newcomers. Companies develop logos as a form of first communication with the stakeholders. They in some part, are communicating their culture. Innovation and risk-taking -focus on creativity; investment bankers are more risk takers, librarians are not. Attention to detail -focus on precision and analysis; scientists for example. Outcome orientation -focus on results/outcomes rather than on technique and process; mass production focus on outcomes. People orientation focus on people within the organization; the degree to which management decisions take into consideration the effect of outcomes on people within the organization.
