In 1934, canada"s first and only federal prison for women (p4w) was built in kingston, ontario. Within 4 years of its opening, a royal commission recommended that . 1990 task force on federally sentenced women. Brief, violent confrontation took place at prison between 6 inmates and several correctional staff. Inmates were moved to prison"s seg unit and had criminal charges laid against them. Warden called in the all-male emergency response team to conduct a cell extraction and strip-search of 8 of the 9 inmates in the seg unit. Inmates are sleeping no rioting at this time. All-male institutional emergency response team (iert) storms the cells. Did this 1 cell at a time. Re-traumatized the women who have histories of physical/sexual abuse. Commission to investigate certain events at the p4w.
