75 views3 pages

Document Summary

Lecture 3 sensory: eye, hearing, contours, percepving motion, perceiving colour. Stimulus energy -> sensory system -> transduction (conversation) -> iconic (short term visual)/echoing memory (short term auditory memory) -> longer memory. Rods + cones at the back of eyes (needs lots of blood) Rods are not color sensitive, active in dark conditions, have the most. Cones concentrated in the middle of retina (fovea) and are color sensitive, don"t work well in the dark, lesser than rods. 3 types of cones: more red, and green and blue. Rod vision not as clear, fuzzy, side view. About 20 mins for rods to adapt to dark (longer compare to cones) Rods not sensitive to red light (exit lights are red so the eyes stay dark adapted) Pupil dilate in dark to let more light in and also emotion. Aging and vision correction: near = flatter lens. Eardrum vibrates and pushes on the 3 bones (smallest bones)
