Globalization - circulation of goods, ideas, and movement of ppl. The intensification of worldwide social relations which link distant localities in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events occurring many miles away and vice versa. Ethnoscape - the flow of ppl across boundaries. Fine line b/w a) tourists expecting service while on vacation and b) tourists treating local ppl like servants. As the pace of tech innovation increases, so does the flow of tech. Can be small scale, like posting on fb. Or can be larger + more systematic. Financescape - flow of money across political borders. Mediascape - flow of media across borders. Glocalization - the adaption of global ideas into locally palatable forms. Eg. mcds offering diff menu items in diff countries. Consequence of globalization - homogenization of culture. Makes ppl more aware of the social injustices happening in other parts of the world. Global north - refers to the wealthier countries of the world.
