Dystopian setting as vehicle for coming of age narrative. Metamorphosis: transformation of the protagonist = transformation of society/renewal of contract. Something we find again and again in dystopian societies. Marcus renewing the sense of government to its people through voting. Hunger games similar to what he was already doing. Constantly shifting gender identity; identity ( i still don"t know what my indemnity is ) Peta and gal have a very fixed sense. Series concerned with constructing the image of katniss. Trying to find an identity outside the image she is projected as mockingjay. Allowing to somewhat remove herself from the violence. Something elegant about the bow and arrow doesn"t have to get her hands dirty. The people who once upon a tome handed out military command, high civil office, legions everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses juvenal.
