50 views3 pages

Document Summary

He believes the wise should rule [which is the few, not the many] In a democracy you end up with a certain undisciplined character because their lives are given an overriding purpose as they are a closed society. Democracy does not encourage integrity because it takes the restrains off, and does not force you into a particular role. In a democracy, you do not stick to your particular specialized roles, therefore it will turn into chaos because no one is serving the common good by doing what they are best at. The democratic character lacks integrity by refusing to specialize. Lack of order = lack of justice. Instead of having rulers who behave and subjects who behave, they behave like each other. The more freedom you give people, the more freedom they will want. The tyrant holds power; some people just want to kill the tyrant; the tyrant is dependent on people they cannot trust.
