Philosophy involves a project, that isn"t for everybody, but must be done on your own. Although he was educated by the church, he was not educated by monks. Descartes philosophy begins with a notion of being deceived and misled i thought i know things, but i turned out to be wrong . This is the main point of the meditations . Relate this to the allegory of the cave. When the prisoner is freed from his chains and turns around and sees the bright light behind him. Prisoner wanted to turn back around, but he could not because he had lost his innocence. When descartes turns around" he noticed everything that he thought was real was not. Enlightenment and disillusionment [this is painful for plato allegory]
