We resolved that death is either nothing or the underworld (false dichotomy) Socrates uses this to reason to not fear death. He doesn"t fear something he claims ignorance to as he does not know. He does not claim to know which one is true however. He ends with a reference to the god. Ties together many notions in apology (human wisdom is nothing compared to gods, and no mortal knows what happens after death except for the gods) Crito 54b also references god leading him (into death) Socrates concludes he needs to stay and face his punishment. It would be easy as it was a very low key prison. Typically in athens, people were executed a day after trial. A religious festival (on the island of delos) for apollo, there were rules that no one could be executed until the ship from the island came back. Also alludes to this in apology that nature would take over.
