Introduction to psychology part 1: experimental & biological bases of behaviour. Seminars are every other week sept 27, oct 11, nov 8 nov 22 **bring textbook. Final grade will reflect: effort made, learning acquired, skills cultivated. Assignment 15% (academic integrity need to get 100%, by september 28) 8 weekly quizzes based on assigned chapters for that week. Mark is based on 7 best quizzes out of 8 (2% each) Format: 10 multiple choice, 15 minutes timed, answers posted after the due date. Read a research article describing a specific study. Article and instructions will be posted after reading week. Understand how & why, components, processes, functions, evidence, bigger context. Analyze pros & cons, compare & contrast, limitations, alternative explanations. What is psychology: scientific study of human behaviour and the mind. Behaviour: observable actions, what people say, do, gesture, express, can be intentional or automatic, personal examples: intentional; getting up, going to class.
