Document Summary

3. 3 analysis of first order di erential equations . 5. 3 e ect of gr and g on torque-speed curves . An electromechanical system (ems) is a collection of components that couple mechanical and electrical inputs and outputs in some way. Examples of emss are: speakers, potentiometers, piezoelectric transducers, electric generators and motors. Emss are used in a very wide range of applications, from home appliances to mobile robots exploring mars. Emss can be very small, such as vibrating motors in portable devices, and can be very large, such as the electric generators in hydroelectric plants. Dc motors are electromechanical components that generate a mechanical output from an electrical input, ie. displacement output for a voltage input [nise, 2011]. Motors are built in various sizes for di erent torque and speed requirements. Motors that are packaged with built-in gearboxes and position control systems are called servo-motors. Electric linear actuators are motors that drive rack-and-pinion mechanisms.
