Sept 20: dr. pauline paul canadian history of nursing: religious nursing. Quebec city was the first real place for nursing in canada. Augustinians first group of nursing people that came from france in 1639: they built the hospital. In this era, the surgeons they are barbers. They would amputate if there needed to be: when they came to canada, they would see settlers coming to canada every day. So their goal was to tell them the ways to live in canada, and prevent them from getting sick. They left quebec city in 1642 made hotel dieu in montreal (shelter for god) place to go if you need help. Jeanne mance one of the famous nurses in the time. She comes to montreal to establish hotel dieu. But it"s jeanne mance as well: builds the enclosed area. Make sure that the colony was safe bc there were lots of mini fights happening.
