Chapter 5: social inequality in canadian society (a) social inequality. Market driven economy is the need to earn a proit (capital) so you can accumulate wealth, through that we access canadian resources. Inherently, capitalism creates an inequality [jobs in socieies that pay a lot less and some jobs pay a lot more] Majority of the people struggle to earn money. A canadian white male in middle class has much more access to resources than a immigrant that has language barriers, which causes inequality. Canada has one of the highest standards of living in the world. Yet it is sill characterized by social inequality. In the un record, canada use to be #1 around 1991-1993, now canada is not in top 10. Maybe because ability to ind work and access healthcare has declined. Welfare, healthcare, and access to educaion was provided by the government to help prevent people avoid low quality of life.
