Most adolescents see their communication with their parents more negative ways in negative ways. Parents tend to focus on the similarities between them and their children. Generational stake parents are invested in their children. General belief that applying rules and limits to youth leads to resentment and rebellion. Idea of the generation gap comes from behavioral stages theory and psychoanalysis. The idea that adolescence becomes a moment of intense identity formation. Well established in the research of the 1960s and 1970s. Generation gap at least we believe it is true. University students generally report feeling that they had had a negative impact on their parents in their teens. Often their educational background are not qualified by the country they immigrated to (this actually happens very often) After 1970s, less of a difference gap between parents and children. Can cause strain because both parents might be working to support their child and pushing their child to do well.
