Document Summary

Set point: the balance point of the thermo-efector temperature thresholds for on/of control. Homeostasis is not a snapshot but rather a balanced, dynamic condiion. 2 independent systems that respond to heaing and cooling (i. e. efectors would be sweaing and shivering and size of blood vessels) In a basic heater, there is likely to be 6 pulses per hour (see to the right) An increase in frequency (pulses) and a decrease in amplitude would describe a beter homeostaic control. Hypothalamus is connected to the anterior/posterior pituitary gland and is the center of the ccn and many key decisions regarding homeostasis. Muliple sensors come from both the skin and the core. If we add even more feedback mechanisms we introduce a muli- component control center, whose graph is even. By adding more complexity to the system we ighten homeostaic control. This may be circadian, weekly, monthly or seasonal cycles. This may be fetal, neonatal, childhood or elderly trajectory.
