Intravenous (iv) injection injected directly in to a vein, concentrated in the blood immediately. Intramuscular injection injected usually with a hypodermic needle in to muscle tissue; slower more consistent diffusion of the drug. Subcutaneous injection injected beneath the skin; fatty tissue does not have as many blood vessels so drug is absorbed more slowly. Dosage and toxicity: injunction rubbing an ointment or applying a patch, the effects of a drug depend on the amount an individual takes. The greater the dose, the greater the effects. Toxicity is the dosage level at which a drug becomes poisonous to the body, causing either temporary or permanent damage.
