We detect colour by only seeing the one wavelength that is not absorbed by the object: ex. Red apple absorbs all colour wavelengths except the one displaying red colour. Lamp life rated life in burn hours; 800-100,000 hours. General lighting provides ambient light in a space. Task lighting provides targeted light to assist those performing tasks. Fixture/luminary lamp or overhead light that uses light bulbs. Foot-candles amount of luminance at the surface of an object that is being lit. Lumens and lux measure of brightness of light. Level needed depends on what activities or tasks are being or will be performed within the space.
