Each culture has their own words, terminology and definitions for music. Taimbre: the quality of sound produced by an instrument. Listening to music while cooking, dancing, riding the bus. Concentrating on everything that i am hearing without being distracted. Heavy emphasis on these in other countries and minimal importance in. Manipulating time, manipulating music (why rhythm is important in other countries) Our culture"s music is very composed and not improvised. Tonality: the system of how we organize pitch in the western world. Give us a sense if rest and resolution" Need to learn a new system other than tonality. Relativistic point of view: when you have another cultures music and it exists in its own entity, not in relation to ours. Does not mean our music is better than others, no system is better than others. Don"t judge another cultures music based on our cultures music system (tonality) Each society has music that suits its culture.
