Looks at a world where the reality out there is constructed by all of us no one sees it the same way, our understandings are based on what we see and can change. The focus of social constructivism is on human awareness or consciousness and its place in world affairs. Constructivists reject this one-sided material focus, see it as a secondary aspect. Constructivists argue that the most important aspect of ir is social, not material. We can look at something and think it is objective, but everyone can interpret it differently. It is the meaning that society gives to things that is important. Consequently, the study of ir must focus on the ideas and beliefs that inform the actors on the international scene as well as on the shared understandings between them. How we interpret the world of ir around us. Change occurs when one changes the perspectives of people.
