POLS 2200 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Socioeconomic Status, Dependent And Independent Variables, Civil Society
Document Summary
No peace, a time which conflict has not erupted yet. As soon as there is an imbalance in power there is conflict. If so then you think: development and trade is an issue. Non realists say that trade is better for peace and international relations. Terrorists are not part of the state, not going to war. Terrorism is more ideology based, less power based or a different kind of power (i. e. psychology) The state is not the only important part. International corporations (can"t be ignored), economically some are more powerful than the state. Don"t see a world of conflict; they see cooperation (focus more on cooperation) Getting rid of trade barriers, the more integrated the better. Tie people together, borders become meaningless (not important)-everything is interconnected. Movement of resources, impact of developed world on developing world. Nothing is neutral; it is all about domination and exploitation. Recognition of the world not being the same objective reality for everyone.
