"mega-constitutional politics": 1970s-1990s: quebec separatism, then and now, effect of federalism on, texts, canadian federalism, constitutional odyssey, newest editions of both books, additional readings are provided on courselink. Short paper: feb. 4 (15%: 1,000- 1,200 words, will discuss next week, draws from early readings, 3 topics, midterm: feb. 12 (25%, m/c, during class, on readings and lectures. Final paper: march 25 (25%: choice of topics, 1,500-1,750 words, 3 academic sources. Final exam: april 13 (35%: m/c and short answer, cumulative - more of an emphasis on post-midterm, readings and lectures. The course is based on topics opposed to weeks.
