Survey interview has very clear beginning and end: same questions are always asked to all respondents in the same sequence. Interviewer stays neutral- does not ask additional questions or give input: unequal distribution of power- researcher asks questions, respondent answers, professional tone and business like appearance, close answered questions. Interviewer controls pace and direction of interview: not crucial where interview takes place. Because there is predetermined set of questions: does not require a lot of experience as a researcher. Qualitative: more informal, beginning and end are not clear. Always joint participation: hard to predict how long it will take to conduct interview, social context and situation is crucial.
