Context of neoliberal discourse- individuals are agents of their own success or failure in contemporary economic/social conditions: subject who succeeds is flexible via constant self-invention and self- management, a life of constant and continual improvement. The right labels, clothes, body, makeup, house, car- become markers of cultural belonging and acceptance.
