Believe that we can study humans like we can study anything in the natural or physical word. Darwins on the origin of species 1859 is a good example of positivism and has a strong impact. Limbroso on female offenders: like men, he argued that some females are born as criminals. More recent perspective of this is sheldon"s somatotypes. Developed a typology of certain body types to go with temperaments. Mesomorph- believed that compared to other body types these people are more likely to behave in deviant behaviour. Not a huge amount of support for this theory. Much more recent and relevant theory is: xyy syndrome. Most of us have 23 pairs of chromosomes. On one of the pair males have an xy and females have xx.
