Denunciation- teaches wrongdoers about society"s norms and sets an example. We want to achieve a lot of different things when sentencing. More people are more likely to want to rehabilitate youth; remove adults. General public has deterrence as a top priority. Some objectives don"t work well together- rehabilitation and separating offender from society. Punishment doesn"t depend on what may happen in the future.
