Aorta - largest artery - most pressure. Aorta - arteries - arterioles - capillaries - venules - veins - superior/inferior vena cava. Arterioles - have a lot of smooth muscle : maintains pressure, under nervous and endocrine control. Capillary bed in the digestive tract goes right to the liver capillary bed instead of the heart: do that so the liver can test to see what was absorbed from the digestive system, called a portal system.
