It is an activity, exercise or practice. Can become anything through action (you can become a courageous person by behaving brave) Cannot be happy w/o acting good and within reason/rationally. Acting in support of the common good. Goal - live well; ethically, happy and just. An act is good because that act arises from good habits. We have the potential to be good people and exercise our rationality. Develop habits that compel us to act in a good manner. Exp. give up seat to elderly on the bus. Not a knee-jerk reaction - we learn it. No sel sh intent or desire for pro t. Expression of our rational nature - the signs, others telling us to get up etc.
