Document Summary

Supporting or glue cells, nutrition, structure, immune, facilitating neuronal conductions. Soma (cell body): computations are done, decides if signal is sent down the axon. Afferent signal: information is brought into the soma (dendrites) Neurons conduct their signal from dendrites to soma to axon. Sensory neurons run to the base of heads without disturbance. Axoplasmic flow: can go away (ortho/anterograde transport) or towards (retrograde transport) from the cell body. Make myelin sheaths in the cns and for various cells at a time. If nerve is injured it may be inhibited so difficult for recovery. Conditions such as ms will only affect the myelin of the cns. Make myelin sheath in the pns but for only one cell. If nerve is injured it will make a tunnel for it to recover. Gion baray affects the myelin in the pns more. Squid giant axon popular for early testing. Membrane allows for it to have a charge.
