Document Summary

Aspects in ah q the obsession with face; spiritual victory ( ah q ism - spiritual enlightenment) The image of the chinese at that time. Ah q - someone who speaks for himself, lies to himself to make him feel better/self confidence. He is a person in which sees himself as an important figure yet is afraid to others. When he tries to show any power it is like he breaks down by becoming this pathetic person. He has problems interacting with other people/ and his attitude to other people is very problematic. Going back to nation allegory a lot of third world writers have a form of national allegory in their form of writing. Using ah q to symbolize something, may seem to symbolize chinese society, with how powerful things look yet how pathetic they are. He doesn"t really have the spiritual enlightenment to get past his own spiritual victory, doesn"t want to face it.
