What makes up a biological membrane: lipids, proteins, carbohydrates. On the exterior: oligosaccharide chains of glycoproteins, lipid-anchored protein, peripheral membrane protein, oligosaccharide chains of glycosphingolipids (subtype of glycolipids) On the cytosol side, integral membrane proteins are embedded in the membrane. Note: not all membranes in the eukaryotic cell are the same. Composition of proteins and lipids will change.
