PSYC 217 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Smoking Cessation, Interrupted Time Series, Energy Drink
Document Summary
You know there is a drink that raises energy levels. You have one participant, your friend, to see if this works. Developmental (all are repeated measures or within subjects, but very little in terms of manipulation and last long times e. g. years for longitudinal) You measure some sort of baseline and mix the drink in the food. And then you measure some sort of baseline after taking away the drink. Trying to measure the level of energy in your interactions e. g. speed of speech. You conclude that the drink is raising his energy. But maybe its not the energy drink that is raising his energy, but his regular life e. g. pancakes makes him tired. He could develop a tolerance and then you need more repeated trials to figure out the true effect of the drink. You go from baseline to treatment and the baseline again after reversing the treatment.
