Document Summary

Sam kee building --> narrowest building in the world. Occurred because the city had already decided to widen the street without telling the owners of the building --> indicates the lack of consideration and respect to the chinese locals. As an act of defiance, the locals still went ahead and built on top of the restaurant. Built environments: something that is all around us but taken for granted at the same time (as it works to keep our world together subtly) Infrastructure, roads, sewage lines, even our classroom, farms. Cows --> could somewhat be considered a built environment, as they have been heavily designed and maximized for human benefit (e. g. genetic design, biomedical engineering, intensive breeding programs), could eventually become part of the built environment. Experience --> people are users of the built environment. Builders --> we relate to the built environment as we are the ones that we build our infrastructure.
