Darwin"s voyage on the beagle - 1831 the story of academic evolution started with darwin. Started with his book the origin of species . Ecological niche: a way to interact with a subset of an environment. The role and position a specie has with its environment. What the finch did to the environment impacted its evolution and made it adaptable to survive in its own specific environment. Evolution terms and traits heritable traits eg. color of bands on a snail, size of nose in humans. Evolution acts on the pre-existing variation and selects specific one. However, if the trait is not heritable (not linked to a genetic component) it will not be passed to others. Evolution terms and traits fitness the differential ability in organisms to survive and reproduce. Evolution terms and traits adaptations adaptation is the tailoring of a specific trait and make it better. Heritable traits are passed on and improved among generations.
