Palaeolithic: paleo means old and lithic means stone. Therefore, it is the oldest period in the stone ages. Were hunters of grazing animals and gatherers of wild plants. Tools were made of wood, bone and stone. At the end of this period the climate changed dramatically and the water level rose = bye bye. New wetter and warmer climate was created. Mesolithic: meso means middle and lithic means stone. Therefore, it is between the palaeolithic age and the neolithic age. Disappearance of palaeolithic occupants brought new occupants from the sea. Fauna of previously uninhabited islands began to disappear. Seafarers moved to islands abundant in wild life. Diet : hunted animals and foraged plants were processed before eating. Ex: barley was crushed in querns before consuming. Sea food was another added part of the mesolithic diet. Neolithic : neo means new and lithic means stone. Therefore, it is the final part of the stone ages.
