the Story of Cadmus p. 61, 96: !
-one of the few greek heroes who are not born greek!
-Cadmus was born a Phoenician prince!
-Cadmus’ sisters, Europé gets abducted by Zeus in the form of a bull & he takes her
to Crete and she gives him 3 sons who will be heroes !
-Europe = in greek wide eyes/wide face!
-Cadmus’ father tells him to go to greece and look for his sister, so he does !
-the place where he goes to find out information is the Oracle at Delphi !
-Cadmus is now basically a greek king !
-Phoenician technology now given to the greeks = alphabetic writing !
-the phoenician alphabet for the greeks— an ethology for something that was actually
true. !
-~800 B.C. the greeks acquired an alphabet by copying the phoenician alphabet,
including the 5 vowels we use today !
-Harmonia = harmony of music!
-married to Cadmus, becomes his queen !
-have 5 daughters together!
-is the daughter of Ares and Aphrodite !
-when cadmus and harmonia die, they go to elyssium !
