How would you describe societal reaction to sex offenders?
- Very extreme action, thought to have done the worst thing ever
- Mainly men who are offenders, but women are offending but aren’t recorded and
people who are assaulted by women don’t want to come out
- General disgust
- Exiled or removed from society, people don’t want to hang around them
- What they were identified with before, they are seen different and now their master
status is a rapist
- People around them are also affected
Why is that?
- What is it about sexual offending that garners such reactions?

Despised even by other prisoners / offenders
Deserving of whatever comes their way (i.e. being physically harmed or killed in prison)
Considered lowest of the low
There is a stigma that is attached to an offender, and now people will always think that
you will reoffend
