Idea is that the visibility of police will provide deterrence i: reference to panopticon, constant surveillance, people will conduct themselves accordingly if they know they"re being watched iii. Idea that it makes people feel safer: rapid response. Increasing crime rates result in more negative view of police services: however increasing crime rates can hint to more police efforts in cracking down on crime, new legislation, proactive measures, the public does not realize this. Individuals demanding more of a stake in their communities to identity their needs: challenging the state, features, there are 3 main features, organizational strategy and philosophy. 1: ex: troubled youth, bring them together with community to find out the issue ii. Innovative ways of dealing with issues: ex: involve the youth in helpful services, police and community are working together. Identifying and dealing with the community needs ii. Three elements of cp: organizational, external, tactical.
