Guilt by association assumptions made about the families of criminals that they did not have a good upbringing, that they were not parented well, etc. Families of prisoners lack information of their loved one, lack contact as well. Trying to keep in contact with imprisoned loved ones can be expensive travel, collect calls, etc. Stigma for example, kids can be bullied because their relatives are imprisoned. Might generate some negative attitudes towards the cjs if the area is disproportionate in the amount of residents incarcerated.
