Subordinate clause: can"t stand on its own subject and a predicate (cid:523)dependent(cid:524) Phrase: a group of words that can"t stand on its own not a whole sentence. Simples sentence: a main clause that can stand on its own, i went to the store. Compound: puts 2 main clauses together by a conjunction (and) i went to the store. And bought some eggs (fanboys) comma before all of them. Complex sentences: uses subordinate clauses; you use a comma when you put the subordinate clause first, Compound complex: complex and compound sentences together, i go to the store, to buy some eggs when i run out. Argument: a conclusion supported by reason and evidence. Conclusion should come last and a thesis is a conclusion.
