To insure information is easy to understand and to process quickly and accurately. To insure information is easy to skim, ie. key facts can be seen at a glance. Highlighting the exceptional or the information that stands out from the routine, whether that is a problem, an achievement, or an anomaly. Examine/analyze a problem and provide a solution or recommendations. Are based on the collection of evidence, information, and data (ie. research) and the analysis of this data. May sometimes offer a number of possible solutions perhaps ranked--and leave it to the reader to make the final decision as to which solution or recommendation she"ll choose: audience, purpose, and tone. *assess their knowledge level and adapt language and presentation of information accordingly eg. avoid jargon. Note: the receiver of a report is much more likely to be a motivated reader, since she/he may well have commissioned it. *drawing conclusions and perhaps making recommendations from these conclusions.
