This is about an adventure and an analysis of how an adventure is accounted. It subsumes all of the questions we have about the epic. Conrad"s style is tortuous (twists and turns) Stutters and talks around what he is saying until he himself figures it out. Talks back and forth to his listeners on the ship. Focuses on the central question of storytelling. In the sense that they are doing the right thing in helping out civilization. Marlow is saying something that occurs to him as he looks at a map asa little kid and sees whiteness because it was all to be filled in. When he was a little kid africa had not been explored in detail, so they didn"t know what to put on maps.
