Quickening= mother feeling fetal movement: (~16-20 wks) Pregnancy tests detect hcg in: blood 7-10 days after conception; and, urine after 1st day of missed meses. Fetal heartbeat: at 8-17 weeks with doppler ultrasound stethoscope. Nulligravida: a woman who has never been pregnant and is not currently pregnant. Primigravida: a woman who is pregnant for the first time. Multigravida: a woman who has had 2 or more pregnancies. Parity: the number of births in which the fetus or foetuses have reached 20 weeks of gestation, not the number of fetuses (ie twins) born. Parity is not affected by whether the fetus is born alive or is stillborn. (ie showing no signs of life at birth) Nullipara: a woman who has not completed a pregnancy with a fetus or foetuses beyond 20 weeks gestation. Primipara: a woman who has completed one pregnancy with a fetus or foetuses who have reached 20 weeks gestation.
