Class 11- crisis nursing and trauma informed care. Crisis: any event that is going to lead to an unstable and dangerous situation affecting an individual, group, community or society- an emergency event. Crisis team: first point of public access to the mental health response system- screening, assessment, referrals, support in a crisis, suicide intervention and transfer to the local crisis team or to emergency services when advisable. Anger: an emotional response to frustration of desires, threat to one"s needs (emotional or physical) or a challenge. Aggression: action or behaviour that results in verbal or physical attack. Violence: intent to harm, defined in criminal code. Etiology: biological factors: areas of the brain, neurotransmitters, predisposition, psychological factors: behavioural therapy learned response, social learning therapy imitate others. Terror and numbness: everyone has an alarm in the mind but trauma can lock the mind into survival mode. Fight vs. flight vs collapse: the other side of the spectrum: depersonalization: feeling numb, feeling nothing.
