People are more inclined to remember info that fits their expectations than info at variance w/ their expectations. People have the easiest time recalling info that is consistent w/ their expectations or preferences. Thus people remember best when they expect or prefer needs modification. Often inconsistent info is better recalled - depends on whether even is eventful. Some events are either one-sided or two-sided: Two sided: those that stand out - for ex if you bet on sporting event & so either outcome is win or loss - has emotional significance and so likely to emerge from everyday experience. But if did not ring it is called non-event (only confirmations stand out)
